The idea for G.U.M. first saw light on April 1, 2001, when Julie sketched out the first image (Jacen). From there, things progressed steadily with the constant help and guidance from Kenny. All images, characters, writings, and so on, are the property of Julie Minter. The fan art images belong to their creators.

The title "G.U.M." came about when Julie needed a name for her odd/new creation. As she was chatting online one night, she was asked, "What is it called?" Scraped for ideas for a cool title, she happened to glance at the bubble gum she placed on her McDonald's cup. "It's call G.U.M." she replied. "What does it stand for?" they asked. Thinking fast, she typed in "Gross Unauthorized Mayhem." And the name stuck.
